OUR PHILOSOPHY
Levy Global Support (LGS) is an experienced partner for university and nonprofit leaders. We cut through the complexity and ambiguity of international operations. With better processes and infrastructure, your institution can remove obstacles, save time and money, and improve safety and compliance.
We believe program success and risk reduction go hand-in-hand.
Host-country requirements can be obstacles to success, but they don't need to be. With globally designed, robust systems and processes, we help you meet your constituents' needs — more quickly and responsibly.
We know universities, NGOs, and other nonprofits and understand change comes slowly. That's why we work with you to understand the diversity of stakeholder views, and tailor our recommendations to your unique culture, objectives, and budget. When we design a solution, we stay attuned to what matters to your stakeholders. With careful planning, addressing challenges overseas doesn't need to create friction at home.
Over the past five years, we have served world-class clients including Boston Children's Hospital, Boston College, Dartmouth College, Drexel University, All Hands and Hearts, Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai Hospital, James Madison University, and University of California-San Francisco (UCSF), among others.
We have experience supporting safe, responsible, and effective programs abroad.
Joseph Levy founded Global Support Services (GSS) at Harvard University, where he served as director from 2011–2016. Working closely with faculty leaders and senior administrators in Finance, HR, IT, Legal, Risk Management, and other departments, Joe developed a framework for cross-functional global support. Under Joe's leadership, GSS grew to support hundreds of overseas projects and thousands of travelers across the university on a broad range of operational issues: finance, HR, import/export, safety, tax, and visas, as well as in-country administration and 24/7 emergency management. From 2018–2021, he served as chief human resources officer of the Clinton Health Access Initiative (CHAI), an NGO with operations in 40 countries.
Joe began Levy Global Support in 2016 to apply his experience at these institutions to help other organizations expand their global footprint while managing international risks. His vision of global support centered squarely on academic success, with risk mitigation as an incidental (though important) outcome, has proved adaptable to different institutions and environments. Joe is a certified Global Professional in Human Resources (GPHR) and has been a leader in the Consortium of Universities for Global Health (CUGH), the National Association of College and University Business Officers (NACUBO), and Humentum, the professional association for NGO administrators.
Years of experience have led to frameworks and solutions that work — and that can be tailored to different program sizes, risk tolerances, and budgets.
